WHAT WE DO AT SHAMANISM MEETUPS
Overtones are healing for both the singer and the patient and have been used by shamans in many cultures worldwide, beginning in Siberia. Our work in November with harmonic toning (throat-singing) and journeying to harmonic overtones went brilliantly. It was tremendously healing.
This month we will use some more harmonic overtone sounds from the Harmonic Overtones CD for journeying.
At Janet's request, we will journey into each other's dreams again in December. So please form the intent to remember your dreams between now now and December 8, and take note of one for which you would like help with interpretation.
For more information, read "Conscious Dreaming" by Robert Moss. Also, see http://www.dreamvisio... for information on lucid dreams and dream journals.
Kellie has offered to bring her CD for journeying to the sound of didgeridu, so we'll be trying that in December as well. The didgeridu creates very interesting harmonics.
We always drum and journey together and share our experiences. We often do two or three ecstatic trance postures: including one for self healing. Some postures require lying down or sitting on the floor.
Come and explore the ancient technologies of shamanic knowledge. All levels of experience are welcome, including beginners.
For more information on shamanism, including soul release (psychopomp) work and ecstatic trance postures, see http://www.shamanista...

PLEASE RSVP IF POSSIBLE
Please RSVP as soon as possible. Knowing how many will attend really helps the leader prepare the ceremony, and it encourages others. You can always change your RSVP later if necessary.
But if you can't RSVP, just come anyway, everyone is always welcome!
MENTAL PREPARATION
Please leave home early and allow plenty of time to arrive by 6:00, so you can turn off your cell phone, recover from the traffic and settle into a relaxed, meditative state.
It's fine to shop or just sit and meditate, but we ask that you avoid talking about mundane things like traffic and focus on the shamanic work ahead.
DOOR LOCKED AT 6:30 PM (NEW TIME!)
We will lock the front door at 6:30 pm, and no one will be allowed in after that.
But please arrive by 6:15. When people dash in at the last minute, it takes longer for everyone to settle down and get focused so we can begin the ceremony.
Also, from now on, the back door will be locked at 6 pm, so that we can smudge the room and set up the altar before the ceremony starts. So if you park behind the stoe, you will need to either arrive before 6 or walk around the building to the front door. After the ceremony, the back door is unlocked, so you can go out that way.
SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT TO WEAR AND TO BRING
Please wear loose, comfortable clothes so that you can sit or lie on the floor.
Bring a bottle of water to drink.
There are floor pillows to sit on. You may want to also bring a pillow and something soft to lie on or cover up with if the weather is cool.
If you have a hoop or frame drum and beater and/or a rattle, please bring them. If you don't, there are usually plenty of drums and rattles to borrow.
Feel free to bring any crystals, fetishes, or other spiritual objects or bundles that you wish to journey with or put on the altar to charge up during the ceremony.
Bring your ideas and suggestions for shamanic work that we can do as a group, including field trips, sounds for journeying, and especially projects that we can work on for healing the Earth and her peoples.
JOIN US FOR DINNER AFTER THE MEETUP!
Everyone is invited to go out to eat together afterward. The more the merrier. It's a good opportunity to get to know each other better and to discuss whatever is on your mind. We've been having some great discussions and a lot of fun.
We often go to Denny's on I-10 but are open to suggestions. We're open to suggestions for other good, quiet, reasonably priced places that stay open really, really late.
